Wordsworth and Life Writing

So, I’m finishing up my book for the Iowa Series on Creativity and Writing this weekend. It’s just a little book, 25,000 words, but it’s been challenging–perhaps the most difficult writing project I’ve ever done. But I have to say that it’s the most rewarding writing I’ve ever done, too.

I’m still toying with the title: right now it’s Myself and Some Other Being: Wordsworth, Creativity, and Life Writing. These days it’s important to have Googleable key words in the title. The book is about Wordsworth writing The Prelude, focusing on 1798-1799 and up to 1804 or so. It’s a book for writers, not Wordsworth scholars, which has made it exceptionally challenging for me because I tend to fall into a perfunctorily informative academic style.

I’m excited about the book–now I have to cut like 15,000 words!!!
